In the event that SP3 has not been installed, how safe would it be to download the entire SP3 program and install it over the SP2 program? Would I be likely to screw up my settings etc.

How can I tell for certain if SP3 has already been installed? The guy from Microsoft told me that if Windows Update is saying I still need the update, it has not been installed. I got some support from Microsoft, but I got the impression the guy didn't really know what he was talking about.ġ. That seemed to work, but I got a long list of components that didn't install (see Code).
I have also tried manually downloading the update and installing it manually. I have tried doing it several times through Windows Update and it hasn't worked.

I have Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition with Advanced Services SP 2 on my server and want to upgrade to Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition with Advanced Services SP 3.
